phpChess is indeed now going for the full real-time online experience. This did mean that we had to abandon the php framework for messaging. We are currently concentrating on creating a thin java client and a distince windows server which will be able to run full, real-time games much like any large server. William McKee from Canada is coding the engine and in collaboration we will distribute this server solution for chess by early 2009. We have decided to wrap up development for phpChess for PC by the end of May. We have been tinkering with this way too long now, and it should be released. Price is forecast at a very low £9, which equates to about $17.
